Jon Spencer

Jon Spencer always puts on a kick-ass high energy show and usually winds up milling around in the audience afterward.

The most recent time i saw him play in July 2025 my ears perked up when they broke into a song. It sounded familiar, i was thinking on context of Blues Explosion/Pussy Galore/Boss Hog and it took me about 45 seconds to realize that I was witness them cover The Power of Independent Trucking by Big Black.

There’s no good footage of him performing this on youtube, probably because no one in crowd was exepcting it, but a version he played on the BBC has made its way to YouTube. If the link doesn’t work, scoot forward to the 4 minute 16 second mark.
